For the savings estimate, we use the same example subscription rate ($0.14000/kWh, increasing by 2.75%/year) and bill credit rate ($0.13310/kWh, increasing by 3.30%/year, plus $0.02000/kWh for the renewable energy credits) as the Clean Energy Resource Teams (CERTs). CERTs is a partnership of the MN Department of Commerce, the University of Minnesota Extension, the Great Plains Institute, and the Southwest Regional Development Commission.
This is only an estimate. Actual savings (or losses) subject to subscription agreement, solar production, and bill credit rates.
How It Works
1.
You pay for a subscription to a solar installation and continue receiving your electricity from the grid.
2.
The electricity from the solar installation is put on the grid. No panels go on your property, and no new wires run to your house or building.
3.
You get
credit on your bill
for the electricity generated by your community solar subscription.
